CAPRI This island, rich in natural beauty as well as archaeological and artistic treasures, attracts incredible throngs of tourists. Playground of the international jet set and famous for the Blue Grotto, the Faraglioni rocks and its unparalleled animal and plant life, Capri remains, thanks to its captivating scenery, an island of breathtaking beauty. The Mediterranean maquis is without doubt the most widespread form of wild plant life in Capri. Its characteristic formations can be found in various locations across the island, where it forms the only note of green in the landscape. All around the coast, and also further inland, a kind of sparse, low, coastal maquis can often be found, in which euphorbias grow widely. This species, often accompanied by lentisk and rosemary, is able to thrive even on the most inhospitable rocky slopes, moraines, arid stony areas and unwelcoming soil. TAORMINA Prized destination for the greatest writers and aristocrats of the eighteenth century as part of the Grand Tour which made it famous throughout Europe, Taormina has never lost its appeal. Lying at the foot of Mount Tauro, with the sea lapping at its coastline and Mount Etna towering behind, rich in Mediterranean plant life, Taormina never ceases to delight and enchant its visitors, just as described by the illustrious European travellers who preceded them. The area from sea level upwards which is rich in plant life was once covered with holm oak forests. Farmland, maquis, and Mediterranean moorland, characterised by evergreen plants, is gradually replacing forests. The maquis is mostly made up of tamarisks and pink laurels. Scrub, bushes, dwarf palms and fig trees are all around. Our task: to create a seductive, rich ambience. A blend of maquis, holm oak, laurel, and an emphasis on the sap of the fig tree to finish. Woody and floral notes. AMALFI A setting unique all over the world: a natural amphitheatre encircled by the sea and the mountains, framed by the green of the palm trees and the warm hues of lemon and orange trees. Amalfi takes pride in its glorious past as a maritime republic. It enchants visitors with a panorama of unparalleled charm, made unforgettable with the magnificent flight of steps leading to the cathedral, decorated like lace in the authentic Arab-Norman style. Our task: to evoke the Amalfi coast, maquis, citrus fruit, lavender, sea spray, pink laurel. Our idea: a watercolour sky of lavender and cedarwood fragrances which blend with sea spray. Floral and marine notes, citrus fragrances. PORTOFINO Portofino offers a climatic microcosm with flourishing plant life; the headland is covered with ferns and mosses as well as extremely rare botanic species. Here, the intense fragrance from the abundance of strawberry bushes, myrtle, hazel, heather, thyme and juniper joins with the under wood of pine, chestnut and euphorbias, with their charming blooms like cascades of gold. Our task: create a blend of chestnut, moss, marine notes, pyramid top notes. Black amber combined with white floral notes and light woody notes.
